Over 700 Admission Seekers Registered for 2026 UTME Under Rep. Bamidele Salam’s Free Education Initiative
The BS-E4 Education Initiatives Team, led by the Senior Special Assistant on Education and Civil Society to Rep. Bamidele Salam, Umar Salman, has successfully registered over 700 admission seekers for the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) across the federal constituency.
The intervention follows the earlier announcement by the lawmaker representing Ede North, Ede South, Egbedore and Ejigbo Federal Constituency of Osun State at the National Assembly, declaring free UTME application support for eligible candidates within the constituency.
The initiative is part of a broader education-focused empowerment programme aimed at reducing financial barriers to tertiary education and expanding access for indigent students.
Speaking during the registration exercise, which was conducted at multiple centres across the 4 Local Government Areas of the constituency over 5 days to ensure accessibility and seamless coordination, Umar Salman reaffirmed the commitment of the lawmaker to sustained educational development.
He noted that the overwhelming turnout and participation of beneficiaries reflect both the credibility of the initiative and the urgent need for structured educational support at the grassroots level.
“We are not merely paying for forms; we are investing in the future of our constituency.
“Education remains a strategic tool for social mobility and economic advancement. This intervention is designed to give our young people a fair and competitive start,” Salman stated.
Some of the beneficiaries expressed gratitude for the opportunity.
Ajayi Anuoluwapo from Ara, Egbedore Local Government explained that she learned about the programme through her school. “The link was sent to me by my teacher, and I was subsequently invited for registration. The BS Education team enlightened us on the proper choice of institutions and guided us carefully through the process. I sincerely appreciate the sponsor, Rep. Bamidele Salam, for this great opportunity,” she said.
Similarly, Oderinde Kamorudeen described the initiative as timely and impactful. “This support has relieved my parents of significant financial pressure. Beyond registering us, the team also provided counselling on course selection and institutional requirements. I am deeply grateful to Rep. Bamidele Salam for prioritising the educational aspirations of youths in our constituency,” he remarked.
Stakeholders who monitored the exercise commended the orderly process, transparency, and effective coordination exhibited by the BS-E4 Education Initiatives Team.
