Rep. Bamidele Salam Tops List of High-Performing Committees in the 10th House of Representatives
Representative Bamidele Salam, Chairman of the Committee on Public Accounts, has been recognized as the top performer in the 10th House of Representatives, according to the latest productivity rankings from the House Committee on Monitoring and Evaluation of All Standing and Ad-hoc Committees.
Under Salam’s leadership, the Committee on Public Accounts achieved the highest productivity index, highlighting its significant contributions to enhancing fiscal transparency and accountability in government spending.
The recognition was announced in a notification letter signed by Hon. Obinna Aguocha, Chairman of the House Committee on Monitoring and Evaluation of All Standing and Ad-Hoc Committees of the 10th House of Representatives.
According to the letter:

On behalf of the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Federal Republic of Nigeria, we are pleased to notify you, the members of your committee, and the secretariat that your committee has been selected for recognition as one of the top 10 performing House Committees with the highest legislative outputs/productivity index in the First Session Parliamentary Committees Evaluation Report of the House Committee on Monitoring and Evaluation. This selection is in accordance with the jurisdictional mandate of the Committee, as prescribed by the Standing Orders of the House and the Committees Evaluation Framework 2023 issued by the M&E Committee.
Your selection for this honor was based on your excellent performance during the first session of the 10th House in terms of legislative outputs, measured against the Evaluation Productivity Index Matrices. This recognition reflects the committee’s efficiency, effectiveness, and commitment to promoting good governance and national development.
Accordingly, you and the members of your committee are invited to attend the official presentation of the report, where this historic recognition and award will be presented.
The event is scheduled for Tuesday, December 10, 2024, at 2:30 p.m. at the Conference Hall, National Assembly Library and Resource Centre, National Assembly, Abuja.”
The committee’s rigorous oversight efforts have been widely acknowledged for enhancing the transparency and efficiency of public funds management.
In his response, Representative Bamidele Salam dedicated the rare honour to God and his team members in the public accounts committee of the House of Representatives.
He expressed gratitude to the Speaker and leadership of the 10th House of Representatives for giving committees the needed independence and capacity to function maximally.
“This ranking reflects the hard work of the Public Accounts Committee in ensuring that government expenditures are scrutinised effectively, ensuring taxpayers’ money is used judiciously,” Salam said.
The comprehensive evaluation, conducted by the Monitoring and Evaluation Committee, assessed all standing and ad-hoc committees based on legislative activity, policy impact, and oversight efficiency.
The report also highlighted that the top 10 committees have played a critical role in advancing legislative priorities and contributing to national development.
In addition to Salam’s recognition, several other committee chairs were acknowledged for their outstanding contributions, including Hon. Jonathan Gaza (Committee on Solid Minerals), Hon. Irom Michael Etaba (Committee on Public Petitions), Hon. Abubakar Fulata (Committee on University Education), Hon. Chike John Okafor (Committee on Nutrition and Food Security), Hon. Abubakar Kabir A. (Committee on Appropriations), Hon. Ibori Suenu E. (Committee on Niger Delta Development Commission), Hon. Aliyu Muktar B. (Committee on Federal Capital Territory), Hon.
