Oasis Royal Academy Osogbo students embark on eye-opening excursion to Abuja
Students of Oasis Royal Academy, Osogbo are currently in Abuja on an enlightening excursion to the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, where they were warmly received by the Founder of the institution and Member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Bamidele Salam.
The distinguished lawmaker, who also serves as the Chairman of the House Public Accounts Committee (PAC), took time out of his busy schedule to personally welcome the students and staff as well as interact with them.
The visit provided the students with a rare opportunity to witness firsthand the inner workings of Nigeria’s legislative processes.
While interacting with them at the PAC hearing room, Rep. Salam answered questions from the students which bothered on the operations, identity, the Federal Capital Territory in general and other matters that have bearing on the trip.
He threw some questions to the students on the trip and issues related thereto and those who answered them correctly were to also receive gift items.
During their time at the National Assembly, the students toured critical areas of the complex, interacted with aides and public officials, and gained a deeper appreciation of governance, public accountability, and civic responsibility.
Leader of the delegation, Mr. Akinyele Samuel, who spoke to the Bamidele Salam Media Team, expressed immense satisfaction with the overall experience of the excursion.
He described the visit as “a well-rounded educational journey that surpassed expectations,” highlighting the exposure the students received on both academic and general fronts.
“This visit has been incredibly rewarding for our students. From touring the National Assembly to listening to Hon. Salam speak about the institution, the experience has broadened their understanding of how governance works in Nigeria”, he said.
For many of them, this was their first time in Abuja, and the opportunity has ignited a spark of ambition and curiosity that will influence their academic goals and civic engagement moving forward.
Mr. Samuel also praised the warmth and hospitality shown by Hon. Salam and his team, stating that the interaction has given the students a sense of belonging and motivation.
“We are deeply grateful for the reception we received. Hon. Salam is not just a politician; he is a mentor and a role model. His words were inspiring, and his passion for education and youth development is something our students will carry with them for a long time,” he added.
The excursion marks a significant milestone for Oasis Royal Academy in its commitment to providing holistic education that goes beyond the four walls of the classroom. It also reaffirms the school’s connection to visionary leadership and practical learning experiences.
The students are scheduled to visit other institutions and tourists attractions in the FCT.
