Adeleke, Salam receive Hundreds decampees From APC, ADP, to PDP

Osun State Governor AdemolaAdeleke and Rep. Bamidele Salam on Monday received hundreds members of opposition parties into the ruling People Democratic Party, (PDP) in Egbedore Local government area of Osun.
The decampees from All Progressives Congress, (APC), Action Democratic Party, (ADP) said that they join the ruling party due to the rapid development the state is experience under the leadership of Governor Ademola Adeleke in Osun.
This is as Rep. Salam officially commissioned a series of 13 significant development projects aimed at enhancing infrastructure and education in the Ede Federal Constituency of Osun State.
The commissioning, which took place in various communities within the federal constituency, led by Sen. Ademola Adeleke.
The newly commissioned projects include the Commissioning of Classrooms, ICT Centre in Awo, Egbedore Local Government, Aba Olori rural electrification in Ejigbo Local Government, Alaasan rural electrification in Egbedore Local Government, electrification in Oke Langbin, Ejigbo, rehabilitation of the Aato-inisa-Ejigbo to Iragberi-Awo road, the Awere Musa electrification project in Ede South Local Government, the foundation laying for a Skills Acquisition Centre in Oke Gada, Ede, and four solar-powered boreholes in different communities.
Speaking while commissioning, Governor Adeleke praised Rep. Salam for being a dedicated representative, stating that only those elected on the platform of the People’s Democratic Party bring the dividends of democracy to the grassroots. He urged constituents to continue supporting both the lawmaker and the state government.
In his words, the chairman, Public Accounts Committee of the House of Representatives Rep. Salam expressed gratitude, saying, “I’m appreciative to God and to the people for their support, which made all these possible. These are some of the achievements we’ve been able to bring back to our community as a result of the opportunity to represent them in the House of Representatives.”
Discussing the electrification projects, he noted, “Many people are engaged in various forms of artisan work, and they need electricity to enhance their productivity, which has been a significant challenge in communities like Awere Musa that have never experienced electricity for decades. That was one of the driving forces behind my decision to provide these electrification projects and transformers.”
Salam explained that he facilitated the eight classroom project through the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC). He pointed out that the school, established in 1955 during the era of Obafemi Awolowo, had not seen substantial renovations in nearly 25 years.
He added that the only functional classroom was damaged during the End SARS protests, leading to a decline in student enrollment.
“The classroom project costs approximately N160 million, while the ICT center is budgeted at N100 million,” Salam stated.
He noted that these projects are part of broader efforts to modernize education in Osun, aligning with the 2024 national budget initiatives aimed at enhancing digital learning environments.
He also emphasized the importance of addressing both infrastructure and manpower in the educational sector.
“We need to train and retrain our teachers to ensure quality education,” he said.
He encouraged the youth to prioritize education and skills acquisition as pathways to a prosperous future.
Oba Abdulwasiu Iwaloye, the Ologobi of Ogobi, expressed appreciation to the lawmaker, noting that this is the first time the community will experience electricity in decades.
