PROFILE OF REPRESENTATIVE BAMIDELE SALAM
Representative Bamidele Salam is a Journalist, Lawyer, Educationist, Author, Politician and Member of the National Assembly, representing the good people of Ede North, Ede South, Egbedore and Ejigbo Federal Constituency of Osun State.
Rep. Salam is the Chairman of the House of Representatives Public Accounts Committee (PAC), a constitutional committee of the parliament.
Until 2003, he was a staff of the Osun State Broadcasting Corporation (OSBC) where he worked in several areas of broadcast journalism. It was from here that he proceeded to serve in the Government of Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola as Media Assistant to the then Osun State Governor, a position he held until 2007. He was elected as chairman, Egbedore Local Government Area, Awo, Osun State from 2007 to 2010.
He was also head-hunted to serve as the Head of Media in the Office of the Senior Special Assistant to former President Goodluck Jonathan on Public Affairs. He held this position upto May 2015.
He is the Founder and President, Children of Africa Leadership and Values Development Initiatives (CALDEV), a non-governmental, non-profit organization that is committed to raising true leaders in Africa, who can lead the continent out of the murky waters into its rightful position in the world
Rep. Bamidele Salam who is also a member of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) parliament is committed mentor to several young persons across the country and even beyond. He has pioneered efforts that have seen to the hosting of several successful editions of the annual National Children Leadership Conference as well as the BS -E4 Business and Leadership Bootcamp.
Towards this, he has effectively delivered vital knowledge to the younger generation through role modelling, academic teaching and tireless involvement in matters that relates to the wellbeing of children.
All through the course of his professional and political journey that saw him move from Journalism into Politics, Law, writing of books, Rep. Salam has remained dedicated to a task that he considers to be a calling – teaching.
His published books include: “God’s Manifesto for Politicians and Those Who Hate Them”; “Ten Kings, One Servant” “Mummy has the Answer”; “Leaders of Our Dream 1 & 2” as well as “160 Things Every Child Should Know About the Nigerian Constitution, Child Rights Act and Other Laws”.
Rep. Salam’s legislative agenda and interventions cut across, law reforms; economic empowerment; child rights; education, ICT, regional security; human capital development; agriculture as well as effective healthcare delivery.
He is a selfless service personality. In recognition of his determination to positively impact on the lives of his constituents in particular and the nation at large, he is popularly referred to as the Best Servant or BS for short.
The Parliamentarian is happily married to Mrs. Oluwaseyi Salam and the marriage is blessed with 4 children
