Yesterday, 3rd of December was the day set aside by the United Nations to celebrate persons living with disability across the globe. It is tagged World Disability Day.


Representative Bamidele Salam of Ede North, Ede South, Egbedore Ejigbo Federal Constituency of Osun State as a friend of this category of people in our society, would not allow the day to pass by without making them happy.

The Lawmaker in fulfilment of the promise made to leadership of the association of persons living with disability in the Federal Constituency to always honor them on this Unique day, organized a well attended get together for alongside a 2 in 1 empowerment gesture.

Some members of the association who engage in one trade or the other were presented with handsome cash grants to support their businesses while some others were gifted equipments like standard Sewing and grinding machines to also support their trade while a number of them got new wheelchairs.

Mrs Oluwaseyi Salam , who represented her husband at the joyous gathering advised privileged individuals in the society to embrace those living with disability as according to her, nobody knows how he will end before returning to our creator. Mrs Salam also called on stakeholders in the country to enact avenues that will prioritize welfare of persons with special needs in the country.

She assured the association that her husband would continue to hold them in high esteem and constant encouragement.

Highlight of the occasion includes award of full scholarship to a member of the association with sight impairment who attends Federal College of Education Special, Oyo. Recipient of the surprise scholarship which he described as most unexpected thanked Representative Bamidele Salam for the life changing gesture.

PDP leaders, notable aides of Representative Bamidele Salam and many dignitaries were also at the event to support Mrs Oluwaseyi Salam to celebrate with the constituents who are living with one form of disability or the other, all in commemoration of this year’s World Disability Day.
