As Muslims celebrate the Idel Kabir, a call has been made for them to rededicate themselves to the task of nation-building in order to leave a lasting legacy of selfless service.

A federal lawmaker, Representative Bamidele Salam who represents the Ede north, Ede south, Egbedore and Ejigbo federal constituency of Osun state in the House of Representatives made the charge in his message during the weekend.

Rep. Salam used the occasion to appeal to the Muslim faithfuls all over the country to continue to contribute and sacrifice their energies, skills and competence as a deliberate step towards ensuring the continuous existence of a united and prosperous Nigeria.

He urge Muslims to imbibe the attributes of the Holy prophet Mohammed by striving to ensure peaceful co-existence, unity, love and kindness noting that when such are done, the country will be better for it.

 

He further stressed that, as much as the economic and social situation in the country looks troubling, with rededication to the national ideals and constructive efforts, there will surely be light at the end of the tunnel.

Rep. Salam further enjoin them to have moderate celebration that will be filled with sober reflection on the journey ahead of the country.

The lawmaker assures that he will continue to carry out his constitutionally assigned duties of representation, lawmaking and oversight in a manner that will bring succour to the downtrodden, poor, marginalised and the oppressed.
